Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing plant manufacturing activities, equipment and facilities ensuring business objectives are met. Accountable for all aspects of plant performance so that objectives are attained in a cost-effective manner that’s consistent with quality requirements. Delegates authority to key supervisors in production, manages all functions involves, directs and coordinates operations for the plant. Drives continuous improvement and optimization of all aspects of all processes to exceed our clients’ expectations.
Job Summary:
NEI relies upon an innovative, educated, experienced and well-organized staff to perform essential functions of the NEI program. A positive attitude, desire to work as efficiently as possible, attention to detail and excellent stakeholder-facing communication skills required. The work is fast paced, demands quick thinking, solid decision making and changes rapidly. Plant Manager must make numerous far reaching decisions quickly and multitask without being overwhelmed. Continuous training and development are integral to this role as are flexibility and ability to engage with team as needed.
Plant Manager holds leadership, supervisory and reporting responsibilities. Plant Manager creates and executes a plan for resource allocation including man hours per project, materials and equipment use/allocation, budget, production space as well as equipment per function. The Plant Manager will oversee all daily operations of the plant from production and manufacturing to ensuring policies and procedures are followed. Develops processed that will maximize stewardship, safety, quality and productivity. Supports SQF as required.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Manages daily operations in our plant facilities, both Herrin and Sesser
- Ensures plant safety and efficiency
- Oversees testing and monitoring plant equipment and processes
- Understands equipment functionality and systems; able to direct or make needed repairs and suggestion for improvements
- Ensures operations follow SQF, GMP and HACCP guidelines
- Prepares, analyzes and issues production and performance reports
- Oversees staffing, hires, terminations and conducts performance reviews for Productions, Safety & Sanitation, Warehouse and Maintenance personnel
- Oversees training, production and maintenance records to ensure they are properly documented and stored
- Controls costs to achieve savings and company budgetary goals
- Develops and implements a comprehensive preventative maintenance and attrition program with maintenance personnel
- Oversees all aspects of production including raw material delivery, reactions, material transfer, classification, packaging and shipping
- Engages with Lab Services. Specification Oversight or other Lab personnel or processes to ensure proper testing and quality controls are followed and documented
- Oversees data management, filing and storage system to ensure process and outcomes are properly documented
- Engages in continuing education and team mentorship; stays abreast of market innovation, regulatory changes and industry trends
- Responds to communication from internal and external stakeholders by phone, on-line or in person as needed
- Produces meaningful and timely reports and communications using appropriate methods, materials and media; uses NEI Product software efficiently
- Assists with audits and audit preparations as needed
- Schedules and/or attends meetings as required; holds regular team meetings
- Oversees appropriate level of materials required to perform tasks are maintained
- Upholds and defends NEI image by strict adherence to quality, safety, NEI protocol to meet client specification
- Ensures safety, cleanliness and usability of personal and public lab spaces
- Position reports to VP Manufacturing and Development
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering preferred
- 5+ years’ equipment and plant operations experience
- Familiarity with reglatory requirements for operating plants
- Able to lead root cause analysis investigations and continuous improvement initiatives
- Proficient with MS Office
- Aptitude for quipment operation and troubleshooting
- Excellent communication skill
