Natural Enrichment Industries
OMRI Listed Natural Enrichment Industries, NEI, is pleased to announce that in December, 2009 the Organic Material Review Institute, OMRI, recognized NEI’s tricalcium phosphate (TCP) to meet the requirements established by the National Organic Program as an additive acceptable for food manufacturing companies wishing to advertise “organic” labeling. The National Organic Program (NOP), the USDA’s regulatory framework governing “organic” food, recognizes OMRI as a third party auditing agency. OMRI is a non-profit organization that specializes in the review of substances for use in organic production, processing, and handling. Its board members represent a variety of industrial segments including certifiers, farmers, suppliers, processors, handlers, consumer organizations, and animal welfare and environmental groups. OMRI focuses on decision makers who deal with compliance status of generic materials and brand name products and the suitability of these inputs under USDA-NOP standards. The OMRI listing means that the TCP provided by NEI officially meet the criteria established under the USDA as an acceptable additive for foods to be labeled “organic,” provided: The OMRI approved product listing may be found at www.omri.org, key word search “tricalcium phosphate” or “Natural Enrichment Industries”.
